Founded in 1972 by Charlie Brown, U.P. Tire began as a small, family-run business with Charlie delivering tires in his father-in-law’s pickup truck. The original store was located at the corner of Ashmun and Easterday, but as the business grew, U.P. Tire moved to a larger location at 1129 East Easterday Avenue. This site, once a former gas station and plumbing shop, was quickly transformed into the new home of U.P. Tire.

By the summer of 1995, U.P. Tire expanded further, constructing the building you see today. This new facility allowed for service on up to four vehicles at once, enabling faster and more efficient service for our customers.

In May 2024, after a long battle with illness, Charlie Brown passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was known not only for his dedication to providing fast and reliable service but also for his active involvement in local community organizations.

Today, U.P. Tire continues to be family-owned and operated under the leadership of Charlie's son, Tony Brown. Tony relocated to the area to continue his father’s legacy, with plans to expand the range of services offered to the entire Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP). Our mission remains the same: to provide top-notch service with a personal, family-focused touch, just as Charlie did for over 50 years.
